Abu Dhabi, UAE February 13th 2012,
The fourth session of the ten-week T6 Leadership Development Journey delivered by the Altaaat Leadership Development Institute, and hosted this week by the Department of Economic Development, left the ten participants gathered on this journey wowed in amazement by what they heard and saw.
Organized on behalf of the DED, by Mr. Bader Al Jenaibi, Head of Foreign Trade & Export Support Section and participant in the T6 Leadership Development Program, Mr. Al Jenaibi had nominated for this week’s interview Dr. Adeeb Alafifi, as someone he personally looked up to as an inspirational leader within the DED.
Once interviewed, Dr. Adeeb Alafifi, Director Foreign Trade & Export Support of DED, had clearly left his inspirational mark on participants through illustrating his real-live examples that clearly depicted what “theories of what makes good leadership” looked like in action!
Observing his ingredients of success at everything he lays hands on, you find it a combination of his clear upholding of personal accountability, his preparedness to take risks, the strong determination and drive that does not give into circumstances, an eye that looks at and turns challenges into opportunities, and finally a clear commitment to only recruit the very best people into his team!
It clearly could not have taken anything less, to convert a 75% cut in budget spend into the 300% performance returns that his division was able to secure for the DED this last year. Such he however emphasized, would not have been possible without the two key success ingredients supplied from the very top leadership within the DED, being – the trust and the backup from the leadership – on plans he proposed and initiatives he pursued.
Climbing the career ladder step-by-step, without the slightest opportunity to bypass or speed up progression in one step over the other, as he proudly claims, clearly played its role in building up the qualified and well-rounded leadership personality he has become today.
Towards the end of the session, H.E. Mohammed Omar Abdullah, the undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development, had warmly welcomed the T6 Leadership development program, expressing his support and appreciation for the institute’s leadership development endeavors coming to support the career progression of the national caliber.
